With Grandma Griffith:

  1. I was encouraged by watching this. Is she thebladynthst used to be a lawyer? I remember in a book she wrote how she said housework and home management was much more challenging and required a lot more intellect.

  2. No I don't think it's the same lady. Her tips are very helpful though, especially about the bed and dishes:)

  3. I do this first three faithfully. But I do laundry only once a week. Maybe if I had a laundry room that was right off the kitchen I could do it everyday. But mine is miles away in the basement and if I did one load a day, I'd forget about it while I was doing other things. While the laundry is going I'm ironing, mending, etc. In other words, Laundry day is really a "taking care of clothes day." I make sure everyone had enough underwear to get through the week and when I do laundry I do it to done: washed, dried, folded and put away. But everyone is different and has different needs and desires. There isn't one correct way to do household work.

  4. I do laundry once and sometimes twice a week, because we don't have that much laundry, and our washing machine is big and European washing machines have long cycles, like 3 hours. It's not economical for me to wash every day.

I agree that you should adjust your housekeeping according to your needs, yet there are things which simply have to happen, like making your bed:)

  5. Why do European washing machines take so long? Do they include time to soak everything first? Mine is a pretty new Maytag brand machine but I can't say it cleans as good as my older one. :) Neither though take that long.
One blog asked ladies years back to submit a picture of their laundry area and it was interesting to see how machines and things were different across the world.
I do a wash load about every other day. Sarah

  6. Oh I forgot to add. I did watch her YouTube. I also watched her one on how she' cleans her bathroom. She said she only keeps one thing on the long sink counter. The hand soap bottle. It really looks bare. :) I also noticed in her kitchen she had nothing on those counters either. She said it makes it easier to clean. Yes but she evidentially has enough storage to store all and then have to get each thing out when it is time to use. I would at least like my canisters for floor and such out all the time! :-) But then this is her house and not mine. Thanks for telling us about the YouTube. Sarah

  7. You are welcome, Sarah! Yes, the lady has a nice new house with lots of storage, I think. As for the washing machines, I honestly have no idea why it takes so long. Prob has to do with water and energy saving? Soaking is optional, I never use it. The short program I use is about 1 hr though, but you can't wash at higher than +60*C with it. I wash towels and underwear at 70 degrees.
